Vermeulen in Rotterdam

I live in Australia, can not speak or read dutch, and I`am trying to get a family tree together from my fathers side.  One here in Australian, my mother, does'nt want to talk about it, a dutch thing.

My father has passed away (also did'nt want to talk about it) and his first name is Jacobus with no middle name.

My dad married mum in Dordrecht 31st March,1948

My dad came from Rotterdam from a family of 11 children and he was the youngest.

Vermeulen is a common name. Most info is kept under raps, a marriage certificate must be 75 years old and birthcert. even one hundred years.

Your parents are immigrated in Australie. Probably they had to give dutch papers to the officals, saying who they are. On offical document, there is often written also the names of the parents. Maybe you can ask by the officals,

Also it is normal in the Netherlands, that people who got married, get al little family-book. In there is written the names of the couple and the names of their parents.

Ask your mother if she has that book.
