I am looking for the parents of my great grandmother Helena Albertine Townsend and my great grandfather Wilhelmus Franciscus Johannes Jansen. Helena later remarried to a man surnamed Maarsman.

do you have anything that ties them with Helena Albertine Townsend?  That is where I am missing the information.  at this point it would be just a guess if Johanna Kornman and James Townsend were actually related. :(

Considering that in your initial post the names Townsend and Kornman are listed as the parents of Helena Albertine, it seems quite reasonable to assume that the couple  James Edward Townsend and Johanna Wilhelmina Kornman are indeed her parents (it does need to be confirmed though). In the focusonline link there is no mention of a marriage between James Townsend and Johanna Kornman, nor of children, but maybe the people who made this just didn't have this information. I guess it is also possible that they never married, but did produce a child that was acknowledged by the father.

 

 

I found another site where Helena is listed, no parents/ancestors or children mentioned though.

Maybe it would somehow be possible to trace children or grandchilderen of her son Frans Jansen in the USA to try and find out if they know anything.

My parents are decended from Helena (she is my great grand Oma, Unfortunatly Wilhelmus died quite young, and my mother never really knew him.  I have an email to my aunt who was Helena's caretaker for many years, but I have not heard back from her yet.  She is traveling (retired) with my uncle most of the time.

 

I think both Wilhelmus and Helena were born in indonesia, I know she was, and they married in indonesia, but indonesian records are hard to find.  My mother and her eldest brothers and sister were all born in indonesia, too.

 

I emailed Mr. Cirkens to let him know about the linage of Helena to add to his tree if he wanted to, but even he didn't put Helena together with James and Johanna and couldn't give me any more information on wether they were actually related.  I may just create a seperate tree for them until I can get proof.

I emailed Werner Brühns today (the other website) to bring this thread under his attention. Perhaps he knows more.

Given the name Kornmann, plus that the family seems to have resided almost entirely in Padang, makes it unlikely that it wouldn't fit, I think.

You might try to obtain her certificate of death from America, that should provide the connection.
