Would someone be willing to look up something in the Groningen Archives. We would like to solve the following puzzle;         My GrGrGrandfather,

  KLAAS FREERKS TULP, b. 27 Sep 1814, Appingedam, d. 17 Nov 1846, as an inmate (soldier) in a military prison at Oegstgeest, South Holland. At the time of his wedding the Nationale Militie paper stated as he had drawn #56 and had not been called in the last 5 years he was cleared to marry . We have no idea at this time why he was in that prison. At his time of death there was an epidemic of some kind in that area. Many in that prison died. He married 30 Nov 1838, Loppersum, to TIETJE HENDRICUS TICHELAAR, b. 3 Apr 1813, Loppersum, d. 16 Mar 1848, Loppersum.

He was listed as living in Appingedam ( 1840) as a breadbaker, with his wife and child (1839) , with a maid and a servant, and another child was born there in 1841. On his death cert his wife is not mentioned, only his parents, yet 2 years later he is mentioned, as the late husband,  on his wife's death cert.

We would like info, and if possible, copies of  the Groningen Military Court records as to why he was in prison. And / or what regiment he was in.

Any help at all to solve this puzzle greatly appreciated and any costs will be repaid via Pay Pal.

Oegstgeest is at the border of Leiden. In the national archive I found the following map. May be somebody can have a look in this item for you.

Thank you for the advice and archive #'s. I'll try and see if someone can look it up for me. Maybe we can find out there were his court case was held.
