I would appreciate it if someone could look up the marriage certificate of Christoffel Roos to Lijsbet Jans , 2 April 1683 in Amsterdam. Unfortunately I can't work out where he is from or how old he is. However, I think it says that he is a carpenter??? Many thanks in advance.
Thank you so much everyone. I apologise for getting the names of his wives mixed up! I do have another question. I can't find a baptism for Christoffel in Amsterdam. Am I looking in the wrong place? A Christoffel "Lourensz" Roos was a witness at the baptisms of a couple of children belonging to Abraham Lourens Roos. I am assuming that these 2 are related. Perhaps brothers. However I can't find a marriage or baptism for Abraham either. Any advice? Thank you!
I've also found this information regarding Christoffel Roos. But I am trying to find out when Christoffel was born and also if Abraham Lourensz Roos is his brother. Abraham was married to Jannetie/Jannetje Jans Meijers. I can't find his marriage or baptism in Amsterdam. I did find 11 children born to him and Jannetje between the years 1686 to 1706. On a couple of ocassions, Christoffel was a witness at their baptism which makes me think the 2 were related and probably brothers. But I need to confirm this.
I question as to whether the Christoffel Roos who died in 1687 is "my " Christoffel Lourensz Ros as he was witness again at the baptism for one of Abrahams children in 1695. Abrahams wife is simply known as Jannetje Jans at this baptism as well as another one in 1692. As mentioned earlier, I found 11 children for Abraham. I have the 8 that you mentioned plus Jan 18/7/1691, Annetje 10/8/1692, Jan 20/2/1695. But still looking for Christoffel and Abrahams baptisms and marriages.
Yes that's him! Thank you so much. It's evening here now and so tomorrow I'll see if I can find his baptism and maybe connect him to Abraham Lourensz Roos. I'm pretty sure that they are brothers but I can't seem to find a baptism for either them....yet ....or a marriage for Abraham to Jannetje. But, tomorrow is another day and I'll take another shot at it. Many thanks Willem. Very much appreciated!!! Cheers!
I think that I may have found the marriages of Christoffels father. In 7/4/1663 Lourens, widower of Neeltje Jans married Magdaleentje Claes and I can only assume that Magdaleentje Claes and Magdaleentje Biddegers are one and the same. Louren's first marriage to Neeltje took place on the 8/1/1650. The names of Neeltje, Cornelis, Magadeelentje these being the children of Abraham Lourensz Roos certainly tie in with the above being his parents and or step parent. I also found a baptism for a Stoffel as son of Lourens Cornelisz and Neeltje Jans in 1659, however this does not tie in with the age given when he married in 1681. And so the search continues for the baptisms for an Christoffel and Abraham as well as a marriage for Abraham. I am convinced though that these are the parents that I am looking for. I can't make head or tail out of the marriage certificate of Lourens to Neeltje in 1650. Perhaps Neeltje was not from Amsterdam and the children may have been baptised in her home town??? And if she is a local, then I'm back to square one.
