I am doing research in the Coucheron/Cucheron family in both France, The Netherlands and Denmark (Germany).

At the moment, im am doing resarch about Herman Coucheron, born in The Netherlands in the 1630's and died in Sweden in 1677.

In 1672 his partner (not married) gave birth to a child in Oldenburg, in Niedersachsen. In the church record, the entry is at the bottom of the right-hand page.  My question concerns the name of the child. I read the entry as follows: 28  Ingenieur Coucheron so        Hummergen                           Hl Rentmeister Otjen

lebet in concubinatu.                Die Frauw Echards in Neuenhauß

However, I cannot find the name Hummergen in either Danish or German records. Could it perhaps be a Dutch or French name?

Is anyone here familiar with this name, or am I possibly reading it incorrectly?

I think you are right!  Thank you.

If I look at the 4. october, there is a child named Maria Engel. And one of the godparents is called Secretary Kercker. If I read it right?

And another place in the church records I find the attached note. Here I think the fathers name is Hans Koster.

And if I understand it right Kummer gen  means "small Kummer"  . It makes sense that she got her grandmothers name.

But this is the Coucheron family. And the child problaly got the name Kummergen after Herman Coucherons mother Kummertien, whitch Anne wrote a bit earlyer.

I think the name 'Kummergen' is the same name as 'Kommertje', which is the female form of the (male) name 'Kommer'. Which is a more popular form of the Germanic name 'Gomarus', 'Gummar' or maybe even 'Gunnar'.
