Hi everyone,
Once again, I am asking for your help.
Harry Morbeck was one of the Dutch who was a POW on the hellship Tamahoku Maru which was torpedoed by the Americans outside Nangasaki o 25 June 1944.As you may know, many American, Australian and Dutch POW's perished that night including Harry / Henri Morbek. The Australian War Museum has a place dedicated to this as do the Americans and the Dutch BUT I cannot work out who Henri was and what is his relationship to our family. I have tried every site and come up with nothing except hisname . I would love to know who his parents were

Once again you are all wonderful.
This means that Harry is my father in laws' cousin.
I have been looking at war records from all 3 countries for the last week and in an hour I have the answer.
Thank you all so much
Libby
in a prevoius message you mentioned a brother of Henriette Ottorine, who was in the Navy and died on a ship that capsized.
Maybe it is Benjamin Morbeck. He is burried in Ambon.

Hi Joyce,
Thank you. Another Morbeck I have to investigate. My father in law could not remember his name and I got the impression from him that it was before he was born, so your information makes sense. I will begin another search.
Thank you
Libby
