Hello
I don't know where to start to look into Edmondus de Graauw b.1904 who apparently lived in Indonesia for a time when his daughter Cornelia was young. She was born in 1933 or 34 in Netherlands.
Can anyone help with information about research in Indonesia?
Thank you
Merkwaardig.

===========================================================================
Remarkable. One 'F. de Grauw' (so different initial, and differently spelled last name) ALSO born 13th of July 1904 also served in the Royal Navy. [...] Can this be a coincidence? ( 06482 is a navy registration number so someone may be able to utilize that to find more? )
Dat moet hem gewoon zijn, omdat E de Graauw niet in de lijst voorkomt.
What do the transfer entries mean? Can you translate please?
Hi Barbara,
'Transfer entries'=> I guess you mean these:
- Overplaatsing van de Hr. Ms. „Kortenaer" naar Hr. Ms. „Evertsen"
- Overplaatsing, van de Hr. Ms. „Kortenaer" naar Hr. Ms. „Pro Patria"
E. de Graauw's occupation was Engineer Sergeant on board Royal Navy ships. Apparently he was transferred in January 1936 from Hr. Ms. „Kortenaer" to Hr. Ms. „Evertsen". He must have been transferred back to „Kortenaer", because in April 1938 het is transferred from (again) Hr. Ms. „Kortenaer" to Hr. Ms. „Pro Patria". 'Hr. Ms.' means 'Her Majesty's Ship' .
Does that answer your question?
I am not a specialist at this, but 'Kortenaer' and 'Evertsen' were similar destroyer-class ships. 'Pro Patria' apparently was a minelayer.
Do you know of any way I can find out about his family while he was in Indonesia? He and his wife Cornelia had 4 children in the 1930s and one in 1946. Did they live with him? Where would they have lived? Any information to help get a picture of their lives would be useful.
Thanks
Barbara
The son was born in Soerabaja, harbor of the navy.
They lived there from may 1935 until july 1939.
You know that the largest part of the family came to Australien (1958-1960). Researching your family | naa.gov.au On this site you also can find the names of the husbads of some of their daughters.
Kind regards
