My cup runneth over.  Thank you.  From what I am able to discern, it appears Daem Daemsz Rustenberg (or variant spellings of the last name) and unknown first wife were the parents of  Barbara, Daems, Jan, and Marytje? By Oetje Jans, the couple had Annetge and onge Jan? Gijsbertje Jans is clearly stated as a stepmother in the orphan record you cited. BTW:  Jacob Toorenvliet is my direct ancestor; thanks for posting the biographical information.

Steve, it’s not quite clear to me either.

The Daem who married in Leiden and Gouda in 1671 with Heijltge Jans Coorevaar is clearly not the same as the Daem that was baptized in 1676 in Amersfoort as a son of Daem Daems R. x Gijsbertje.

It could be the Daem who married in 1671 is no family after all.

Hi Bas: I have no doubt as to the paternity of the children.  The question is the mother.  Late last night, I performed wildcard searches on the Utrecht Archives site, hoping to find some clues, and so far, I came up empty-handed.  Unfortunately, the RK registers in Amersfoort start late (assuming the family was Catholic which I believe they were). For the moment, I suspect Daem Daemsz Rustenberg was married three times (though when he married Oetje Jans, the groom should have been styled as a widower at the time of their marriage). Again, I am merely speculating based on the information you, Bart, and others have turned up which I am deeply grateful.

This appears to pertain to the burial of Eva Hendricks Sluimer (scan 179), which occurred between 15 April through 22 April 1702 in Leiden:

That really adds up nicely. The last will that I quoted before is dated 14th of april 1702:

Since I didn't have a chance to translate the last will and testament, I was unsure if it had to do with Jan or Eva, so I thought it would make sense to look up the Leiden begraven registers to pinpoint a burial around the April 1702 time period, and it was Eva (though she was not specifically named.  She was styled as a housewife of Jan.  No luck so far in finding Jan's burial record.  The entry I posted had a date range, not an exact date.  Despite my best efforts, I didn't find the exact date.  But I wouldn't be surprised if it was on 15 April 1702 that Eva passed away.  Again, it's only a wild guess on my part.

I think I may have located a burial entry for Jan Ruijlenburgh (sp), dated between 17 June and 24 June 1702. It makes sense, since Jan's son Jan married Lidia Toorenvliet on 24 August 1702, and Jan's uncle (Jacob Michielsen Brant, who married Marytje Damen van Russenbergh in Leiden on 9 November 1686) was a witness to the marriage.

Second item, may have located the exact burial date for wife Eva (scan 240, dated 19 April 1702):

There are no exact dates. The burial was in that week.

Since I accidentally hit the reply button twice, I will use this space to make a small update concerning Eva's parents.  As best that can be determined, given the Amersfoort begraven registers started late, the closest approximation I have are as follows:

When Jannitje Sluijmers married Bartholomeus Cruijssen on 10 May 1686 at Amersfoort, the bride's witness was "moeder Martinjtje Sluijmer, wed. v. Hendrick Jacobsz Sluijmer." Hence, Hendrick died sometime before the date of this wedding.

As for Hendrick's wife, Martinjtje Jans, she was last seen as a witness at her son's marriage on 13 February 1697 at Amersfoort (Gillis Hendricksz Sluijmer to Agnes Matthijsz van Elderen). Hence, to the best of my knowledge, this appears to be the last mention of Martinjtje Jans. If there are later references, I would sincerely welcome them.

Additional help needed:  Through the search engines of the Utrecht archives, I am having some trouble locating any deeds for Daem Daemsz Rustenberg, Hendrick Jacobsz Sluijmer, and Martinjtje Jans.  If anyone who is more tech-savvy than me can help, I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks and I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
