I am writing to request your help and cooperation.
My name is Sergio Aguiar and I am responsible for the Archives and Library of Santa Maria de Guía, a town located on the island of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain.
In our archives of the Local Record Office we have a very important collection of negatives taken by a Dutch photographer,who lived in our city from 1953 to 1963. He had a photo studio whose name was ?Foto Johns?.
As we have been able to check in our local archives,he was registered with the following information: He was called Gaspar (Casper ?) Johns van Leeuwen, he was born in Gouda in 26 november, 1921 and his father´s name was Francisco (Frank/ Franciscus/Frans van Leeuwen) and his mother?s Guillermina (Wilhelmina Jongeneel ?)
At this moment we have just finished to catalogueand digitalize his photographic collection with all the information we had about him in order to offer researchers a more complete and accurate information.
Looking forward to your news, we request your help to see if you have some information about him and his family that could help us.

Hij ondertekent met zijn naam en e-mailadres. Klinkt op zich niet als een misleidende mail.

Nou kom ik zelf nooit in Gouda, maar ik zie wel het trouwen van de ouders in genlias staan op 1-11-1916. En een andere site met de stamboom verder terug. Maar ik denk dat men in wat recentere gegevens geïnteresseerd is.

Vind het toch een beetje vreemd. Hoezo ik? Vandaar mijn vraag of hij zich tot meer mensen gewend heeft.

het is eenvoudiger dan je denkt. Je intuïtie zegt dat je je wat achterdochtig voelt. De stem van je intuïtie is in dit soort zaken belangrijk. Je voelt je ongemakkelijk of onprettig. Luister daarnaar, zou ik zeggen.

Deze meneer heeft je een bericht gestuurd via het stamboomforum? Dan heeft hij dus de moeite gedaan om te registeren. Hoe hij dan bepaald heeft aan wie hij dit bericht stuurde, geen idee.

Ik weet wel dat Santa Maria de Guia een bestaande plaats is op Gran Canaria, ik ben er wel eens geweest tijdens vakantie. Of daar een archief en bibliotheek is weet ik niet, maar dat is misschien wel na te gaan.

De mail op zich lijkt me niet direct misleidend, maar het is inderdaad wel een beetje vreemd dat hij zich tot jou gewend heeft en niet gewoon een algemeen forumbericht heeft geplaatst.

Hij heeft zich inderdaad geregistreerd.

Dus als ik vanuit zijn profiel antwoord, kan er natuurlijk nooit iets misgaan.

Bovendien geeft hij een e-mailadres (gmail), dus dat kan ik ook direct gebruiken. Kan ook niet misgaan volgens mij.

Blijft de vraag of iemand in Gouda zelf voor deze heer wat recentere info kan opzoeken. Misschien in het Bevolkingsregister.

Ik zal hem eens mailen en vragen wat hij precies wil weten.

Request information from a Dutch photographer born in Gouda in November 1921 he was in Sana María de Guía de Gran Canaria (Guía de Gran Canaria) between 1953-1963 called Johns van Leeuwen. We are looking for any information about this Dutch photographer( Casper Johns van Leeuwen). We have many negatives of his photographs and we want to know who was and why he came to the Canary Islands, specifically to Santa Maria de Guia of Gran Canaria.

Any information is important to us, to report who was the photographer,who lived for ten years in our city.

A little other information.

He was the son of a milkman and his grandfather was a sigarmaker (I don't know the right word for it). The grandfather from mother's side was workman.

I don't expect that you can do anything with it, but here you find the original marriageact of his parents, where I got this information.

By the way, in the message above the name of his father is wrong. It has to be:
