I wouldn't bother too much about a different surname for the mother in the death certificate. It happens all the time. Children and neigbours very often never knew the parents of the deceased. There was no control, so sometimes they just invented a name to be not too embaressed when asked. And sometimes they just had heard a name but had no clue where it belonged in the family history. (I found names of sisters in law as mothers etc).

The blockage of the marriage was mainly due to the fact that Hendrik is/was RC and Anna Dutch Reformed. Most pastors would only bless this ceremony when one of the partners changed religion. But Anna was under aged and this was used as an excuse to refuse permission.

There is an old Dutch saying "twee geloven op een kussen, daar komt de duivel tussen"  Two religions on one pillow and the devil will come in between.

After the birth of three illegal children, one realized that barring made no more sense.

OMG . Thank you very, very much for translating this. All I could get out of it was  that one was too young to marry.  lol

Well I think I found the Hardam, I was looking for. 

Hendrik Smitskamp married Johanna Boekhoven

Johanna Boekhoven's parents were Adrianus Boekhoven and Jannigje Jacobs dr Herdam (Hardam) they married 10 Dec 1730.

Their son Christiaan Smitskamp Marries Jacoba van Zoelen-  her mother's name was Aaltje van Bommel

So the reporting of Christianns's wife's death was incorrectly reported as Aaltje Hardam instead of Aaltje van Bommel.

The mother of Johanna Boekhoven's name was Jannigje Jacobsdr Hardam marriage to Adrianus Boekhoven 10 Dec 1730. 

That's how I believe the mix up on the mothers name on Jaoba van Zolens death happened.

Thought I would share this as everyone including you were trying to be so helpful in finding this Aaltje Hardam. :)
