Eindelijk ...

Met behulp van familie is eindelijk de oplossing gevonden met betrekking tot de afstamming van Anna Elisabeth Wiggers, de grootmoeder van mijn echtgenote die op 17 december 1881 was geboren op Ternate.

Vooral met dank aan tante Fola, het enige nog in leven zijnde kind van Anna Elisabeth Wiggers, die een respectabele leeftijd heeft van 95 jaar en een opmerkelijk goed geheugen heeft maar alleen wat snel moe is. Wie kan het haar kwalijk nemen! Er bleek vaak sprake te zijn van miscommunicatie waardoor ik regelmatig op een dwaalspoor werd gebracht. Maar nu vallen alle vraagstukjes op hun plaats en is het ineens allemaal heel erg logisch. Ik heb een welgemeend advies voor mensen die spreken met zeer oude personen. Herhaal elk antwoord op de wijze zoals jij het hebt begrepen!

Mijn dank aan iedereen die heeft mee helpen zoeken en tot het volgende probleem.

As you know, I was a bit "uneasy" about the previous choice...

I have a similar situation going on now with trying to ID the parents of Christine, Mien, Marie, Nellie, and Jacobus Cornelis Wiggers.  One problem I am having again is the use of the words "Tante", "Oom" and such, when they were not blood/marriage related relatives, only friends of the family with "honorary titles".

I am afraid we ran out of time while visiting The Netherlands this month; hope we can still get together in the near future.  Current rumor has it that another Wiggers family reunion may be on for 2014 - I'll try to keep you informed if you like.

By the way, please check your dates of birth/death for Herman Dirk Wiggers against my website; I am close to 100% sure I have those correct; there was initially some confusion with a total of 3 Herman Dirk Wiggers' involved in a reasonably close time span.

You were right ... I must confess that thanks to your reservations a solution has been found. And this time there is evidence too!

You know, the problem of Herman(d) Dirk Wiggers is even much more complicated, because some notations of H.D. Wiggers are related to Hendrik Dirk Wiggers.

The date of death on 11-12-1865 in Batavia is from a child (Burgerlijke Stand 1867). So you can leave that one out.

We also have a Herman Dirk Wiggers from Japara. He was married to J.C. Soekias en he died around 1916.

The Herman Dirk Wiggers who was born at 05-02-1841 was registrated in Ternate in the years 1859, 1860 and 1861.

Then we have a registration in Batavia in the years 1862, 1863 and 1864 of H.D. Wiggers. Burgerlijke Stand 1865 shows that Herman Dirk Wiggers died at 20-09-1863 in Batavia.

In 1866 H.D. Wiggers is registrated in Japara and in 1867 he is registrated in Japara as Herman Dirk Wiggers! This one must be probably the one who married J.C. Soekias.

I don't know. I'll check it against your website and let you know.

My major clue for "our" Herman(d) Dirk Wiggers came from a historical newspaper death advertisement (see my website http://www.ericwiggers.com/Genealogy/Wiggers/624.htm , quite a chain of documentation there) from 1917, stating H. D. Wiggers died at the age of 76, making his year of birth 1841 - both dates are accounted for in the Regeerings-Almanak, and the newspaper item was "signed" by J. C. Wiggers-Soekias.

I have not tackled the other H. D. Wiggers' yet...   Right now, trying to catch up with major family tree infodump collected in person during the recent trip to The Netherlands with my daughter.  There was just not enough time to visit with all with whom I desired to make personal contact.

I should like to choose youre 'Herman Dirk Wiggers' but who is Herman Dirk Wiggers who died at Batavia, on 20-09-1863??? How can we find which one has Egenius Wiggers as his father? I searched in the documents of Central Bureau van Genealogie but I can't find any kind of such evidence. Just an attest from the Hervormde Kerk of Ternate from 1861 about Herman Dirk Wiggers, nothing else. No Egenius Wiggers.

My original information regarding "our" Herman Dirk Wiggers came from the familysearch.org website.  It definitely listed Eugenius Wiggers and Margaretha Lemmers as the parents.  I have the relevant text from that website in my source citations within the Legacy genealogy software; however, that website has recently been undergoing major renovations and my original link no longer works.  And as far as I know right now, the "old" (user-contributed) data is still being input into the "new" system; a current search did not turn up anyting relevant.

As to the "other" Herman Dirk Wiggers - I have not had the time to persue him (or the 3rd Herman Dirk Wiggers who shows up as an official in the Navy in the early 1900's...)  The Regeerings-Almanak data shows a Herman Dirk Wiggers being born in Batavia on 29 September 1863, and another listing for the death of Herman Dirk Wiggers on 11 December 1865 in Batavia.  Might be the same person.  I will definitely let you know if and when something turns up.

It is these mysteries that keep us going!
