Dear Listers!

The Portuguese/Jewish merchant Moses SALOM alias André d'AZEVEDO alias André de PAS († June 12, 1641 in Amsterdam) and wife Guimar alias Siphora NUNEZ († Sep. 20, 1659 in Amsterdam) lived for many years in Antwerpen, Belgium where the following children were born:

* Salomon alias Anthonio, born 1613

* Lea alias Isabelle, born 1616

* ......... alias Jorgo, born 1618

* Rebecca alias Beatris, born 1623

* Judith alias Joanna, born 1630

About 1631 the family moved to Amsterdam.

In Antwerpen also lived a brother of Moses:

The Portuguese/Jewish merchant Abraham SALOM alias Joao d'AZEVEDO alias Jan de PAS († Nov. 13, 1652 in Amsterdam) and wife Sara († Dec. 12, 1634 in Amsterdam).  They also had several children, probably including:

* David, born 1615?

* Philippa, born 1620

This family also moved to Amsterdam about 1631.

Does there exist Jewish church records in Antwerpen for this period that can verify my information and possibly add to it, for example with marriage dates for the two brothers?

Thank you very much in advance for your great assistance in this matter!

Cordially yours,

Lars E. Oyane

Thank you very much, Etienne, for your message!

I have opened up the link and looked thru a number of pages.  However, I don't find any references to church records from the 1600's.  All of the records appear to be much more recent, from the 1800's and 1900's...

Are you sure there should also be records from the early 1600's?

Thanks again for your great assistance so far!

Cordially yours,

Lars E. Oyane

Hello,

The Antwerp correspondent answered that no other archive is available at Antwerp besides the Felix one - which is quite a piece. Maybe you could contact Shomre Hadass  I  hope  they can help you . Page 1141/2 from the royal history commission(second URL) book is very interesting to find sources. It appears that the Belgian Zionist archives are in Paris and in Jerusalem. I propose to give it a try.

Succes !

Kind regards

Etienne
