Your candidate parents of Johannes Tiepckes could very well be the right couple. In 1641 and 1651 they appear to be living in (Dutch) Marssum (= Frisian Marsum). Johannes himself got married in 1666 in (Dutch) Menaldum (= Frisian Menaam). These villages are only ~5 km apart:

After absolutely non-exhaustive investigation I see one alternative: the birth of a Joannes, father = Tiebke Ulbes in Marrum (about 20 km away), in 1645, here.

Hmm, promising. The only 'odd' thing I can think of is where the name Johannes comes from. But that name is very common, so.... Anyway, that would explain the first name of his (supposed) brother Pouwels / Paulus.

As always, I'll keep digging.  Just wanted to post possibilities.

On 03-07-1667 a certain Foecke Tiepckes coming from Menaldum, (beer)brewer, becomes a citizen of Franeker. He is buried in Zweins on 18-03-1672, age 33 (so born ~1639). Married in 1663 with Eelkje Douwes Hobbema. This is their marriage.

Now if we could prove his pedegree, or who his brothers are?!

PS: Zweins, Huins, Menaldum are approx 5 km from each other in a triangle

PS2: And this is (again) a civil marriage (gerecht)

Eelkje Douwes Hobbema remarried in 1674 in Franeker (also noted in Wonseradeel). Again: civil.

Somewhat speculative, but I bet they were 'Doopsgezind'. No baptisms of children to be found. Civil marriages ('Gerecht'). This is of course put hypothetically, but it is a likely possibility imho. According to this book published in 1839 (which seems to be authoritative on the subject) there was already a 'Doopsgezinde' congregation in Menaldum somewhere between ~1550 and 1580. And the earliest date I've seen above is a marriage in 1598.

Thanks, Bart.  I think you're correct about this family being 'Doopsgezind'. Because I couldn't locate baptisms of any children.

That being said, presents us with challenges. One thing that may give us a chance to move forward is the possibility that Foecke Tiepckes and Eelkje Douwes Hobbema may have had children between 1663 and 1672. If there are no baptisms (if) then the most direct way of finding that out is blocked. But since Eelkje got remarried in 1674 one would expect there could be some record of 'guardianship' that should have been arranged for children (if any) out of Eelkjes previous marriage. Certainly the identity of the guardians would be of interest.

I have not found any of that. Which could mean that they didn't have any children. But it could also just be because I didn't look in the right places since I am not really familiar with the whereabouts of sources for records like that. So I'd like to invite anybody 'in the know' to have a go at this.
