I am looking for my ancester Jan Janson or Hanson (or both) born in Netherlands 1615, he was a naval officer and was enlisted to the Norwegian newly created military forces in either 1628 or 1642. Norway was a member of the kingdom of Denmark-Norway at the time and sources says that he was captain on the naval ship "Graa ulv" in the battle of Kolbergerheide Germany in 1644. Later he settled in Norway with his wife Anne Jensdatter (Jensdochter) and had three children Elias, Mikael and Jan. Mikael took the name Sundt as familyname and is the first ancestor with the name Sundt and later von Sundt (van Sundt) in my family. I am speculating that Sundt could be the rewriting of some dutch name or place, like Son or something? I am also not sure about the surname Janson and Hanson that could be Jansen, Janssen, Jansoon, Hansen, Hansson, Hansoon or something. Is there some archives in Netherland that could possibly list military personell migrating to other countries? The enlistment in 1642 is recorded as a official request in Norway from the norwegian officer Jens Bjelke on behalf of deputy of state Hannibal Sehestedt.
