Hello,

I am looking for a better translation of a particular line (highlighted) on a marriage certificate. I believe it says "gescheureen echtgenoot van Verblackt, Leanarda Joanna" which in English translate to "Torn husband of Verblackt, Leanarda Joanna". Has anyone seen this before or can give me a better translation? Leonarada was Petrus' first wife and this is the marriage certificate to his second wife, Leocadia. The first wife did not die and there is no divorce records I could find. I do not speak Dutch so any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It says "Gescheiden echtgenoot van". Which means: "Divorced husband of".

I found the marriage certificate of Petrus Johannes Jansen and Leonarda Joanna Verblackt online. They were married on 27 August 1937 in Eindhoven. On the marriage certificate is also mentioned that they were divorced on 25 May 1945.

I downloaded the marriage certificate for you and I have send you a PM.

carmen is right. It says gescheiden not gescheuren.I can understand it is a difficult handwriting and unusual word  for a non native speaker of Dutch.
