Sorry for writing in English - this is the reason I am asking for help.

I have just got Aldfaer - I can understand the basic tasks of adding people and "feiten", "bestand", etc.

My favourite thing is making Parenteel Charts.

However - I have a question about "Hooks" --- I really want to add "beroep" and fotos to my Parenteel charts. At the moment it doesn't have that, but I've seen it on many websites and I love it.

I think you must use "Hooks" - but all the instructions are in Dutch and too much for me to understand.

If anyone could please point me in the right direction of adding beroep and fotos to the Parenteel charts I would greatly appreciate this help.

Hi Charlie,

To add pictures to Aldfaer you will have to copy pictures from any map on your computer to the 'materiaal' file first. Since the pictures on Aldfaer are shown in a small format it is best to downsize the pictures to around 400k. Then on Aldfaer select 'Persoon' and click the right mouse botton once on the large empty field on the right. Press 'Bestand koppelen'. You will have to select the above mentioned materiaal file and select the particular picture. Then click twice on it and that's all there is to it. Select 'Bestand ontkoppelen' to disconnect the picture from this person again.

Concerning the persons profession, address, religion etc. first select 'Feiten'. In the line underneath you will again see feiten and press this once with your right mouse botton. Then select 'Feit toevoegen' (add fact) and on the new sheet you can select under 'soort' (type) which fact you want to add.

If you select 'Beroep' (profession) you can fill out the fields as you wish like starting/ending date, source, profession, notes and on the bottom line any relatives who might get the same profession like parents, brothers/sisters, partner or children.

Trust the above will guide you through the process easily now,

Yes this is very clear now. Excellent instructions, much easier to read it in perfect English rather than translations. Thanks for the extra tips also.

I have now added this to my close relatives. Now when I go to the Kwartierstaat and Parenteel, though, the photos and feiten are not coming up at all (only when I'm in person view).

Is there any way to do this?

Hi Charlie,

You will have to make the proper selection of facts that you would like to see in the parenteel (does not work for the graphics). I do not have the English version of Aldfaer, so have no idea what you are looking at on your screen, but still I will give it a go.

You will have to select 'Extra', then 'Instellingen' on the bottom line. Then select on the new sheet under reports 'Tekst' (text). Under presentation (presentatie) you can select or deselect any general information and also facts that you want to see in the reports.

This way you can make reports for family and friends and select or deselect any info that you want or do not want the particular people to see.
